Few plants can rival the amaryllis for its large, showy flowers, and the Red Lion amaryllis (Hippeastrum Red Lion) is one of the best. This plant grows from a large bulb and, with minimal care, will produce large, vibrant red flowers. It can be grown outdoors in USDA plant hardiness zones 9 through 11, and requires protection in zone 8 during the winter. Red Lion amaryllis can also be grown as an indoor potted plant or as an annual. In zones 1 through 10, a sunny indoor location is ideal!
